Cherie Greer Brown

Performance, perseverance and passion …

from my earliest years, such virtues and values became the cornerstone of my life. They helped steer me through my career as an All-American and World Cup Lacrosse player at the University of Virginia. They were instrumental in my rise to president of Hill Ventures, a sports marketing and investment management company. Now, they are the basis for my business philosophy, guiding me in the ventures I pursue.

Welcome to Greer Strategy Group.

Founded by Cherie Greer Brown, Greer Strategy Group is uniquely positioned to provide its clients a high level of professional service. With more than 16 years managing investment affairs, Cherie refined an extraordinary skill set in that capacity. Greer Strategy Group, Inc. is an incorporation of the experience gained by Ms. Greer Brown such as:

  • Management of $100 million of commercial real estate portfolio located in multiple states.
  • The strategic development and launch of a $200 million mezzanine growth fund.
  • The management of private foundation initiatives and funds.
  • Management of significant real estate development projects.

In the launching of her company, Cherie now offers her clients the same type hands-on care and ownership that made her a valued resource in her prior position.

Prior to the advent of her company, Ms. Greer Brown served as the president of Hill Ventures, Inc., a sports marketing and investment management company. During her 16-year association with Hill Ventures she was an integral player, driving such initiatives as the launch of a $200 million mezzanine growth fund and the management of its commercial real estate portfolio valued in excess of $100 million.

Cherie is an alumnus of the University of Virginia where she was a three-time, First Team All-American Lacrosse Player, leading her team to two NCAA Championships (1991 and 1993). She was the 1994 NCAA Division I Defensive player of the year and the first lacrosse player to have her jersey retired at Virginia.

During her 16-years with Hill Ventures, Cherie drove such initiatives as the launch of a $200 million mezzanine growth fund and the management of its commercial real estate portfolio valued in excess of $100 million.

Additionally, she was four-time member of the U.S. Women’s Lacrosse Team, winning three World Championships and was heralded as the MVP in the 1997 and 2001 World Cups. Perhaps her most distinguished award was the Wes Paterson Sportsmanship Award for the 2001 World Cup. It signified the first time this award was given by vote of other national teams, officials and dignitaries of the World Cup Tournament. This award is given to the player who best demonstrates the highest level of sportsmanship and team play. In November 2009, Ms. Greer was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Her father, Hal Greer was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame after playing 15 years with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was also selected as one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players of All Time.
